THROWBACK THURSDAYS: MCDONALD'S 'CALVIN'S GOT A JOB' COMMERCIALS!

Back in the early 90s McDonald's created a series of commercials centered on an African-American teen named Calvin from the neighborhood. Through each commercial we saw Calvin's progression from a wayward teen to becoming a part of the management team at McDonald's.

The commercials were meant to promote McDonald's commitment to giving back to the African-American community by providing jobs to people in the community and a possible career path.

Shoot, you could very possibly even one day own a McDonald's franchise if you let these McDonald's commercials tell it.

"Hey, I started out mopping the floor just like you guys. But now... now I'm washing lettuce. Soon I'll be on fries; then the grill. In a year or two, I'll make assistant manager, and that's when the big bucks start rolling in." -Maurice (Louie Anderson), Coming To America

Take a stroll down memory lane and check out the Calvin's Got a Job commercials after the break plus more!

Now that Calvin was employed at McDonald's and moving up the ranks, everyone was showin' love. From the elderly lady that use to hide her purse when she saw Calvin approaching to his friends that he used to clown around with, Calvin's hustle was respected.

Oh and thanks to Calvin's new job at McDonald's, he could now afford the funky fly fresh Cross Colours gear...

or at least the fake me out joints!

Calvin's glow up was so severe that even his friend that clowned his new job was asking Calvin to hook him up with a job at McDonald's on the lowski --"a friend of mines," yeak, ok!

Sidebar: I caught actress Loretta Devine; Russell (Shaun Baker), the Jamaican music journalist from Flavor Magazine that was obsessed with RĂ©gine (Kim Fieldson Living Single; Clyde (Alex Thomas) from Players Club who along with Reggie (Ice Cube), set Ebony (Monica Calhoun) up to get raped by Junior (Samuel Monroe Jr.); and the grumpy old Hillman alum, Ms. Pruitt (Leila Danettefrom the A Different World episode titled A Stepping Stone, all up in these throwback McDonald's commercials, haaa!

Yep, Calvin was livin' large and in charge thanks to his McDonald's job! I wonder what Calvin is up to these days...

Who you f__kin', OJ?!

Damn!

*squeals* The cameo appearance from actress N'Bushe Wright♡
