60's era girl groups are having the best year ever!

The Sapphires is based on a true story and revolves around a 60's era Aboriginal girls group comprised of 4 sisters.
During the Vietnam War in 1968, four singers from a remote Aboriginal mission are discovered by a talent scout. They are plucked from obscurity and named The Sapphires, Australia's answer to The Supremes, and taken to their first real gig – entertaining troops in Vietnam. [Source]
The movie stars Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids and Girls), who is already getting Oscar buzz for his performance as  The Sapphires "ignorant, Irish, alcoholic" manger (Chris' words, not mine) and Australian actresses: Deborah Mailman, Jessica Maybay, Shari Sebben and Miranda Tapsell.

Nice to see some new faces (well at least to me) of color hitting the big screen.

The Sapphires is projected to hit theaters sometime before the end of year.

Check out the trailer after the break!
