THROWBACK VIDEO: KP & ENVYI'S "SWING MY WAY"

K.P. & Envyi were a female Hip Hop and R&B duo consisting of Khia Philips (K.P.) and Susan Hedgepath (Envyi), best known for their 1997 hit single, Swing My Way.


Swing My Way was released on East West Records which fell under Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group. The single peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at #14 on the UK Singles Chart.

PRESIDENT OBAMA PLANS $300 BILLION NEW JOB INITIATIVE

According to CNN,, President Obama plans to propose to Congress this evening (September 8), a $300 billion (or more) package to create new jobs and strengthen the U.S.'s economy.

The President first addressed his new job initiative to a Detroit crowd this past Monday, which was very fittingly, Labor Day.

The President told the Detroit crowd,

"I'm going to propose ways to put America back to work that both parties can agree to, because I still believe both parties can work together to solve our problems." 

If ever the American people needed something, creating new jobs would be it!

PLEASE BE SEATED...E-ME-JET-LEE!: D.O.C. SAYS HE'S AS MARRIED TO ERYKAH BADU... (VIDEO)

MTV caught up with legendary hip hop producer D.O.C. last month at the BMI Urban Awards and when questioned about his previous interview with the Dallas Observer,  where he told the interviewer among other things, that he remained very much enchanted with the mother of his daughter Puma, singer Erykah Badu.


D.O.C. went on to tell the Observer of his hopes to film a reality show about the goings-on in Erykah's house, [insert side-eye] ending with a wedding between he and Erykah.

CALVIN'S GOT A JOB: LARENZ TATE SET TO STAR IN BET'S "GUN HILL"

Larenz Tate is set to star in BET's Gun Hill,  a new original movie for television.


The show will also star actress Tawny Cypress and Aisha Hinds. Gun Hill is described as a,

"fast-paced, gritty cop drama which brings a fresh spin to the Cain and Abel saga set in New York City.  Identical twins with little in common – one is a cop, the other a con – change in an instant as their lives become intertwined one fateful night when the cop is killed and the con assumes his identity." 

Larenz will take on a dual role playing both twins. Production of Gun Hill will begin this month in New York City.    

I'm just glad I'll get to salivate see Larenz back in front of my TV screen! 


Sorry, but he had me at "[w]hat'd you say about my mama?"

BET HIP HOP AWARDS NOMINEES LIST + TAKE OUR POLL

BET recently announced the nominees for the 2011 Hip Hop Awards and Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa appear to be leading the pack with number of nominations.


Comedienne Mike Epps will host this years award for a 3rd time.  The show airs on Tuesday, October 11 at 8P/7 C on BET.

Just days after an official statement was released that actor/comedienne Eddie Murphy would be hosting the 2012 Oscar Awards, Eddie was spotted on the black carpet at fellow comedienne Kevin Hart's Laugh At My Pain premier in LA. I love to see black celebrities supporting one another!

Ben Affleck was spotted getting his Tony Montana-stance on, on the set of Ben's new 70's-inspired film Argo, in LA.
