FASHION FIX: TOM FORD CELEBRATES THE OPENING OF HIS FLAGSHIP STORE IN BEVERLY HILLS

Designer Tom Ford threw a cocktail party in Beverly Hills, California this past Thursday (Feb. 24) in celebration of the opening of his flagship store. The store is located at 346 N. Rodeo Drive.


I'm just glad he's back to designing clothing again...you were sorely missed Tom!

NEW MOVIE TRAILER FIX: MADEA'S BIG FAMILY

Tyler Perry is back with another installment of his Madea franchise with "Madea's Big Family."

Madea, everyone’s favorite wise-cracking, take-no-prisoners grandma, jumps into action when her niece, Shirley, receives distressing news about her health. All Shirley wants is to gather her three adult children around her and share the news as a family. But Tammy, Kimberly and Byron are too distracted by their own problems: Tammy can’t manage her unruly children or her broken marriage; Kimberly is gripped with anger and takes it out on her husband; and Byron, after spending two years in jail, is under pressure to deal drugs again. It’s up to Madea, with the help of the equally rambunctious Aunt Bam, to gather the clan together and make things right the only way she knows how: with a lot of tough love, laughter, and the revelation of a long-buried family secret. Tyler Perry is the screenwriter, director and two-time star (as Madea and her brother, Joe) and returns with another tender and hilarious look at love and family ties with "Madea's Big Family." The movie hit theaters on April 22 which is the Friday before Easter Sunday. You have to give the man credit. He knows exactly who his target audience is and plans accordingly.

Awe, look at that face! Harlow is the splitting image of her mother Nicole Richie. Joel Madden and Harlow also attended  the kids party at the Tree House Social Club.

Gwen Stefani and her two sons Kingston (the one holding his mom's hand) and Zuma was snapped headed to the same party at the Tree House Social Club. This must have been some party!

Yesterday night (Feb. 25) two of todays leading artist, Rihanna and Ciara, engaged in a war of words. Where, you ask? Where all celebrities and non-celebrities go to shoot the verbal fair ones…on Twitter of course!

The thumb thuggin’ all started when Rihanna responded via Twitter to comments Ciara made while a guest host on E!’s Fashion Police regarding Rihanna’s alleged not so “nice” attitude.

Fashion Police co-host/gangsta tranny granny comedienne Joan River added fuel to the fire by calling Rihanna a “bitch!”

NEW MOVIE FIX: HANGOVER II TRAILER

The "Hangover II" sequel is set to hit theaters this summer on May 26, 2011.

IT'S A CELEBRATION BITCHES: RAPPER RHYMEFEST IN 2-MAN RACE FOR CHICAGO'S CITY COUNCIL

Who would have thunk it!

It was recently announced that Chicago-born rapper Che “Rhymefest” Smith will face off against incumbent Willie Cochran on April 5^th for council seat after winning 20% of the area vote. Chicago candidates must win by 50% or more votes.

Rhymefest who co-wrote rapper/producer Kanye West’s breakout hit, “Jesus’Walks” and who  is one of very few MCs that can boast that he bested rapper Eminem in a lyrical battle (in 1997), is making history! Sidebar: His single "Brand New" use to be my shit...dat beat *bops head* was bumpin'!

His platform is one of making the 20th Ward, one of the city's poorest and most violent, into one of the greenest, through job training and reconstruction.

“I'm having a revolution of love," he told the Chicago Sun-Times. "We want the 20th Ward to be a village again.”

As far as Rhymefest is concerned, the runoff is no fluke. He's serious and wants anyone who can participate in his extended campaign to do so.

"We have 42 days to make this happen. I'm going out today to get to work immediately but I cannot do this alone," he tweeted on Wednesday. "Wherever you are in the city/Chicagoland area, we need your help!" Time

Hearing this news has me seriously contemplating visiting my girl Lisa-Lisa in the Chi and hitting up Rhymefest’s campaign to volunteer.

“Whoever thought that hip-hop would take it this far?”

ESSENCE'S 4TH ANNUAL BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD LUNCHEON

Academy Award-winning actress/Essence honoree Jennifer Hudson and her adorable son David Otunga Jr.

Essence's held its 4th Annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon this past Thursday (Feb. 24) in Los Angeles, California and this years theme was "Simply the Best Black Actress."

The luncheon was in honor of actresses Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis, Angela Bassett and Loretta Devine for "help[ing] to illuminate positive images of Black women."

GIVE US FREE EDITION: SWEETIE SAYS [INSERT SIDE-EYE] NENE IS RUINING HER LIFE!

First, Real Housewife NeNe Leakes accused Kim Zolciak of treating Sweetie Hughes, Kim's assistant (above), like a "slave" on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Now that allegation has prompted a "Free Sweetie (#He-Larry-Us!)" crusade that Sweetie says is ruining her life.

Atlanta radio host Rickey Smiley launched the campaign on Feb. 16 after NeNe called his morning show. "They're doing it for Black History Month, and it offends me," Sweetie tells Life & Style. 

"They have pastors calling into the radio station and praying for me. They've taken it too far. *Roxxy inserts side-eye* NeNe's jealous that she's not as close to Kim as I am (RR: #GirlBye).

INDUSTRY BUZZ: "THE BODYGUARD" REMAKE

According to Deadline, Warner Bros studios is gearing  up to remake "The Bodyguard." The original movie was released in 1992 and starred Kevin Costner and my childhood idol, Whitney Houston.

The movie went on to be the largest grossing movie in the history of Warner Bros studios. "The Bodyguard" reportedly grossed $411 million worldwide.  You Chicks and Dicks have to remember that this was in the 1990's, if we were to take into account inflation, todays figure would be much larger --likely in $1billion range.

Roxxy's Stan Confession: I was obsessed with this movie (and Whitney Houston for that matter) growing up! I remember I saw the movie at least 3 times in the theatre; I bought the soundtrack and my "cousin" Stella and I would torture my family and stand in the living doing duo renditions of "I  Want to Run to You"; "I Have Nothing"; "Jesus Loves Me" and of course *side-eye* the crowd favorite, "I Will Always Love You."

*Shakes head*  My poor family, it's a wonder I'm even alive to tell this story.

The film will be scripted by Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer, whose action comedy script Family Getaway made the 2010 Black List and is a priority project at Warner Bros. Dan Lin will produce through his Lin Pictures banner, and Mark Bauch is co-producer.

Scripted by Lawrence Kasdan and directed by Mick Jackson, the original was a fairly straight ahead tale of a Secret Service agent (Costner in a Steve McQueen homage, down to his hairstyle) drafted to protect a singing diva whose life has been threatened by a stalker, then falling for her in a way he fears is a distraction from his job.

The new version is similar, including the love story, but here the bodyguard will be a former Iraq war veteran who gets the job protecting the star as his first gig after leaving the Army. He discovers that the world of Twitter, Google Maps and TMZ has made access to celebrities easier than ever, making the job more difficult than ever. The goal is to take a young female singer with global appeal and give her the platform that The Bodyguard did Houston.

It becomes the second music-driven remake for the studio, which just got a commitment from Clint Eastwood to direct Beyonce. The studio is in the process of landing the male star.

Lin just wrapped Sherlock Holmes 2, and is producing with Kevin McCormick Gangster Squad, which Ruben Fleischer will direct. He is also developing the LEGO Movie, which has Phil Lord and Christopher Miller attached to direct. The scribes are repped by UTA and Mosaic.

I'm not sure how I feel about the remake, I'm not a big fan of remakes of originals movies I grew up on.

I heard several months back that Rihanna had been taking acting lessons in New York in preparation for this role, and that she was a virtual shoe-in,  but don't quote me.

However, no official word has been released on who will be taking on the two lead roles.

FOXY CHATS WITH BILLBOARD ABOUT LIL KIM VS. NICKI MINAJ BEEF AND MORE!

Billboard.com recently sat down with rapper Foxy Brown to discuss everything from her allegedly being booted out of a recent after-party during New York Fashion Week due to her alleged intoxication to her thoughts on the never-ending Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj beef as well as her plans to release her long-awaited "Black Roses" as a double album.

Billboard: Why are people saying that you were forced out of Indashio's after-party?



Foxy Brown (FB): I don't know how any rumors got started. Indashio is a personal friend of mine -- I'm his biggest supporter, he's my biggest supporter...It was all about me coming to support one of my closest friends in fashion. And when I got there, he dragged me in, and we were falling all over, happy. Happy, not intoxicated, at all. I'm not even a drinker. And we never locked ourselves in the bathroom; people were coming in and out.

They're saying I was physically escorted out of the building by security, that I had this huge fight, I was intoxicated, falling all over. And there's not one picture, one photo from any of the club-goers, nothing. Not only that -- it took six days for this quote-unquote "breaking story" to surface? Does that make sense?


Why do you think you've become a magnet for rumors?



FB: I was watching something about Hillary Clinton one day -- she had an interview, I think, on "Dateline" -- and they said, "Hillary, why is it that you respond to everything they've said about you in the press?" And she said, "Simply because as a celebrity or a public figure, when something is written about you negatively, and you don't respond, it becomes part of your legacy."…Usually a lot of shit that's written, it's like, "Whatever, we're not even addressing it." But this was important because of what we're doing in the future. Indy is designing the Foxy collection of dresses, and we're about to do so much for fashion. 

You also released the track "Massacre" last month, which addressed the Lil Kim-Nicki Minaj feud. What do you think about that situation?

NEW MUSIX VIDEO FIX: JENNIFER HUDSON'S "WHERE YOU AT?"; DR. DRE'S "I NEED A DOCTOR" FEAT. EMINEM & SKYLAR GREY & CEE-LO'S "BODY FEAT. KERRY WASHINGTON & JANELLE MONAE

I think Jennifer Hudson has finally found her sound! I say that to say, that sometimes the problem with people who have really powerful voices like J-Huddy (my nickname for her), is that they tend to  over sing songs and it can become difficult for them to adjust their voice to more contemporary sounding (often times up-tempo songs are the biggest killers) music.

I have found that J-Huddy has had issues like that in the past (every song can't be sung with the force of "And I Am Telling You...real sangers like JHud just can't help it sometimes).

However, "Where You At?" is a mid-tempo ballad and from the arrangement to the lyrics --the song suits her voice well. The video was shot in JHud's hometown of Chicago.

And speaking of Chicago, the Chi's finest or as some people like to call him, the walking episode of "To Catch a Predator," R. Kelly actually wrote this lovely song for J-Huddy.

Say what you will about the Rrrr, but the boy is not only a uber talented singer/song writer, but he also knows how to write a hit record for himself....as well as others! #Clap4Them

FASHION NEWS: KELLY OSBOURNE BECOMES THE NEW FACE OF MADONNA'S "MATERIAL GIRL"

According to NBC New York it was announced last month that former  “The Osbournes” star, Kelly Osbourne will become the new face of Madonna and her young, but fashion conscious daughter Loudres’ collaborative line  aptly titled "Material Girl."

Taylor Momsen was the original face for the line when it launched last year. 

I’m glad to hear things are going so well for Kelly. She was always my favorite person to watch on the show –after Ozzy of course.

A DIVA IS A FEMALE VERSION OF A HUSTLA': ARETHA FRANKLIN & DIANA ROSS TO APEAR ON WENDY & OPRAH (respectively)

The divas of all divas, Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin will be dishing the dirt on two of my favorite daytime television shows real soon!

Last week it was announced that Wendy Williams (my Cancer peeps) had scored the first interview with Aretha Franklin since the iconic singer underwent surgery for gastric bypass an undisclosed medical issue back in December of last year.

Now y’all already know that Wendy is a nosey rosey and can’ t AND won’t hestitate to ask Ms. ‘Retha the questions everybody wants to know. I’m sure Aretha is well aware of Wendy’s reputation and the fact that ‘Retha chose the "Wendy Williams Show" as her first interview since the surgery speaks volumes of how she feels loves about Wendy!

Wendy will travel to Aretha’s home in Detroit to conduct the interview.

There has been no word on when the interview will air, but I’ll keep you Chicks and Dicks posted!

THE CHICK FIX'S LOOK OF THE WEEK: HALLE BERRY

Halle Berry donned a red chiffon and lace Elie Saab Haute Couture gown at the 13th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards(CDGA), held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Halle seems to be a fan of designer Elie Saab's gowns. I know Halle put Saab on my register when she wore the designer's gown the night she took home the Oscar for best actress back in 2001.

Halle took home the 2011 Lacoste Spotlight Award that evening.
