IT'S A CELEBRATION BITCHES: HEALTHCARE REFORM BILL PASSES/TEA PARTY PROTESTERS SPIT AND SHOUT THE N-WORD & F-WORD AT CONGRESS MEMBERS

Last night (March 21) the House of Representatives passed the Healthcare Reform bill. According to CNN, the bill passed in a 219-212 vote. All 178 Republicans opposed the bill, along with 34 Democrats.
President Obama made history last night AGAIN with the passing of this bill, which represents the largest expansion of federal health care guarantees since Medicare and Medicaid was enacted some forty years ago.
As you Chicks and Dicks recall, the passage of the bill was not only one of the President’s campaign promises, but since entering office last January he has made it his No. 1 domestic priority!
Basically what I’m trying to say is, President Obama just doesn’t talk about it, he “BE’S ABOUT IT!”
CNN also reports that a separate compromise package of changes expanding the reach of the measure also passed the House over unanimous Republican opposition, and is now set to be taken up by the Senate… IT’S ALRIGHT YA’LL HATERS…IT’NOTHING, WE MAJOR! YOU SEE US, HI HATER…HI HATER!
Obama said, "This is what change looks like…[it’s] not a victory for any one party. ... It's a victory for the American people and it's a victory for common sense."

- The $940 billion plan is projected to extend insurance coverage to roughly 32 million additional Americans
- Reduce the cost of healthcare
- Create millions of jobs
- Larger employers will be required to provide coverage or risk financial penalties
- Total individual out-of-pocket expenses will be capped and insurers will be barred from denying coverage based on gender or pre-existing conditions
- The bill will expand insurance funding for middle- and lower-income families
- Most Americans will now be required to have health insurance or pay a fine

Barney Frank (D-Mass.) was called a "faggot," as protestors shouted at him with deliberately lisp-y screams...The Associated Press reports that Capitol Police arrested the man who spit on Cleaver, but the Congressman won't press charges. I'M IN TROUBLE NEED BAIL MONEY: WAKA FLOCKA, DMX, LIL WAYNE & MORE!

Rap newcomer Juaquin “Waka Flocka Flame” Malphurs, was released from a Houston County jail last Thursday (March 18) after being arrested last Tuesday (March 16) for violating his probation.
The So Icey Entertainment (label founded by rapper Gucci Mane) artist was previously charged in Houston County in 2006 for possession of a sawed-off shotgun and marijuana. In October 2008, Waka spent a week in a Houston County jail for violating his probation.

Gucci (who is coincidentally also serving a sentence in jail for violating his probation): pimp you got’s to stay on the straight in narrow, you phucking up my money Mane!
Waka *loud outburst* I learned by watching you alright…I learned it by watching you!
On another note, I was listening to the radio last week (which is rare) and I was very impressed with Waka's response to Big Tigger question regarding when Waka would be releasing an album. He basically said that he’s a new artist and he doesn’t feel like he has earned the right for people to purchase his CD (a man that knows his limitations, lol!).
He added he plans to put out an astronomical amount of free mixtapes in the following months…*sighs* I knew it was too good to be true, but I can’t front O Let’s Do It gets me hyped (I’m such a bamma!).

SEE YA, WOULDN'T WANNA BE YA!: NIGERIAN PRESIDENT GIVES CABINET 'DA HEISMAN'

According to the BBC News, Nigeria's acting president, Goodluck Jonathan, has dissolved the country's cabinet.
Mr. Jonathan became acting president [of the Federal Republic of Nigeria] in February amid the continuing illness of President Umaru Yar'Adua.
[President] Yar'Adua went to Saudi Arabia for treatment in November last year and, despite returning to Nigeria recently, has not been seen in public.
One outgoing [Federal Executive Council] cabinet minister denied there was any power vacuum, saying civil servants would take over.
The cabinet was picked by [President] Yar'Adua and correspondents say [acting President] Jonathan is now trying to stamp his own authority.
Observers see Wednesday's move as an attempt to consolidate power at the expense of [President] Yar'Adua.
Information Minister Dora Akunyili said after a cabinet meeting: "Today, the acting president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, dissolved the Federal Executive Council [cabinet]. “He did not give us any reason and so I cannot give any reason…”

Some Nigerians are pleased that acting President Jonathan’s finally asserted his authority and dissolved the country’s cabinet, which critics say are filled with ailing President Yar’Adua's “cronies.”

A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE: NAS PLANS TO PURSUE HIS H.S. DIPLOMA

According to Pittsburgh’s Post Gazette, hip-hop star Nasir “Nas” Jones plans to pursue his high school diploma.
[Nas told] high school students at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's annual National Keystone Conference that his goal was to get his diploma and [he] encourage[d] others who never graduated to do the same...‘The reality of it is, you need to keep educating yourself, and I wish I had stayed in school,’ Nas said.
NBA player Bob Lanier and R&B star Ne-Yo, also spoke to the high school students during the four-day conference.
Despite Nas dropping out of school in the 8th grade, he has always been lauded by critics, fans and his peers for his lyricism. After almost 20 years in the game, Nas is still considered one of the illest wordsmiths to ever touch the mic.
Good job Nas! Now if you could only “kick knowledge” to the Judge and get your spousal/child support payments reduced or at least convince Kelis to come back…all would be right in your and The Chick Fix world!

The movie “Just Wright” stars Oscar-nominated actress/rapper Dana “Queen Latifah” Owens, actor/rapper Lonnie “Common” Lynn, Jr. and actress Paula Patton, and it hits theatres on May 14, 2010.
The story revolves around a sports trainer (Latifah) who finds herself falling in love with a professional basketball player (Common) while rehabilitating him from a career threatening injury. Rapper Earl "DMX" Simmons was arrested yesterday (March 10, 2010) for violating his probation. Arizona authorities say DMX has been "regularly using drugs during the last nine months."
PHOENIX - Troubled rapper DMX was arrested in Arizona on Tuesday for violating his probation by regularly using illegal drugs during the last nine months, authorities said.
The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, told a probation officer that he used cocaine and was not complying with the terms of his treatment plan, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told Reuters.
He faces five counts of violating probation.*In my DMX voice* Lord give me a sign!

CHILD STAR COREY HAIM DIES AT 38

According to People Magazine child star Corey Haim passed away yesterday at the age of 38 due to an apparent accidental drug overdose.
"Mr. Haim was declared dead at 2:15 a.m. at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center [in Burbank, Calif.]," Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County coroner's office tells PEOPLE of the Lost Boys star. "He was transported to the hosptial where he was prounced dead."This is really unfortunate, it seems like a lot of these child stars have been dropping like flies (no pun intended) in the last couple of years. The Chick Fix sends our prayers to Corey’s family and friends.
L.A. County Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter says the official cause of death for the actor, who had a long history of substance-abuse problems, is inconclusive pending an autopsy and toxicology tests. Winter said the LAPD believes Haim may have died from a possible accidental overdose.
An autopsy will likely be performed Thursday, according to MacWillie. Haim was found unresponsive at his mother's Burbank-area apartment.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has announced that he will be throwing a party in Brooklyn today to honor Christopher "Biggie" Wallace. Diddy also says that he is pushing for March 9 to be recognized as a national hiphop holiday
Today, marks the 13th anniversary of Biggie death. Biggie was murdered in L.A. after leaving the Soul Train Awards afterparty hosted by VIBE Magazine, when an unknown gun fired shots into a Suburban truck Biggie was traveling in.
I still remember the day I found out Biggie died like it was yesterday. It was on a Sunday and my friend called me early in the morning and broke the news. It was so shocking because I just watched him perform at the Soul Train Awards the night before. I can’t believe it’s been 13 years!
Biggie is the reason I actually went from just listening to hiphop when it came on the radio (I was a R&B chick back then) to dissecting the lyrics; purchasing hiphop albums and being a die-hard hiphop fan to this day. Thank you Biggie for sharing your gift with the world.

Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles opened the "Beyonce Cosmetology Center" within the Phoenix House in Brooklyn, New York today.
In preparation for her role as the heroin addicted Etta James in Cadillac Records, Beyonce frequented the Phoenix House which treats adults and teens suffering from substance abuse.
The idea behind opening the center is that the patients can learn a skillset --cosmetology while seeking treatment and hopefully transition into work force.

Essence magazine is holding their 3rd annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel as I type. The luncheon is honoring four remarkable African-American women making a significant impact in Hollywood.
The honorees include: Queen Latifah (Power Award), Zoe Saldana (Star to Watch Award), Mary J. Blige (Songstress of the Year) and Gabourey Sidibe (Best Breakthrough Performance).
WOW!!! Can I just say that BLACK IS TRULY BEAUTIFUL!
Everyone for the most part looks CHICKTASTIC, but you know someone always has to break bad. *Cue Auntie Cicely Tyson flick* I’m trying to respect my elders…BUT YOU TRIED IT and ran away with it!

Last night Jay-Z performed in our hometown at the Verizon Center in D.C. and some Lil Mama copycat thought jumping on stage while Jay was performing was a smart idea.
Well he was sadly mistaken because shortly after he hopped on stage, Jay-Z’s main security guy ran across the stage and grabbed that bamma up and literally...wait for it...........................................THREW HIS ASS OFF THE STAGE.
I was told that the intruder --in obvious pain, laid on the ground for quite some time after he was thrown. The intruder was taken away in handcuffs and later the ambulance was seen at the venue --possibly treating the intruder.

RANGEL STEPS DOWN AS CHAIRMAN OF WAYS AND MEANS

Yesterday Congressman Charles Rangel announced that he will temporarily step down as the chairman of the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee.
Rangel has been a member of the House of Representatives for 30 years and he is a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus. In 2007, Rangel became the first African-American chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.

Rep. Rangel based his decision to temporarily step down as chairman on the notion that controversy surrounding his ethics investigation could potentially harm Democratic candidates during the upcoming election.
According to the Associated Press,
Republicans had been calling for Rangel to step aside since last year, when the House ethics panel expanded its investigation into his trips, assets and income, use of rent-controlled apartments in New York and his solicitation of contributions for university center to be named after him. After the panel released its findings last Friday on the Caribbean trips, Rangel started losing support among rank-and-file Democrats as well.I'll be interested to see how the investigation unfolds.
On a side note, I remember when Rangel was a guest speaker at my school and embarrassed the shit out of this Cuban-American student when she asked him a question about his affiliation with Fidel Castro.
I have to admit that her question was soooo unrelated and the chick was a little extra but dag….he straight played her like a deck of cards in front of us students, the faulty and even her young son, who was in attendance…you can take the man out of Harlem

GOV. PATERSON WILL NOT RUN FOR OFFICE IN 2010

Governor Paterson of New York has announced that he will not run for office after his term is up in this year.
Many speculate that an added factor in the Governor decision not to run, is a recent scandal which allegedly involves an aide in the Governor’s camp contacting and trying to persuade a woman from pressing domestic abuse charges against a top aide of the Governor at the Governor’s request.
If you Chicks and Dicks remember, we reported reported almost 6 months ago that the Governor was allegedly (big emphasis on allegedly) persuaded by President Obama (or someone in his camp) not to run for office in 2010 because it was believed New York Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo would be a stronger candidate to thwart off any Republican opponent.
Dag, it was all good just a week ago!
I’ll reserve my comments until the allegations are confirmed.

IKE TURNIN' THESE BROADS EDITION: NO CRIMINAL CHARGES WILL BE FILED AGAINST NAOMI CAMPBELL
According to the Associated Press, no criminal charges will likely be filed against supermodel Naomi Campbell arising from an incident yesterday involving her driver.
The driver alleges Campbell struck him from behind causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel of the car he was chauffeuring Campbell in. The driver also claims he suffered bruising under his right eye.

NEW YORK (AP) - Police say model Naomi Campbell likely won't face criminal charges in New York City after her driver said she hit him from the back seat of her luxury SUV.
The driver told police Campbell hit him from behind and his head struck the steering wheel, causing bruising under his right eye. He pulled over and got out to speak to a traffic agent, who alerted police.
Police on Tuesday issued a harassment report in consultation with the district attorney's office because no officer witnessed what took place in the black Cadillac Escalade. The move came after the driver decided not to pursue the matter. The report doesn't carry any penalty.
Campbell spokesman Jeff Raymond says the 39-year-old model will cooperate with police.

R&B singer Nivea shot a video for her new single "Love Hurts." The video was directed by Point Blank and features her on-again, off-again boyfriend/father of her infant son, rapper Lil Wayne as her love interest.
I guess this video is among the 10 videos Weezy reportedly shot before getting ready to go to prison--whenever that happens.

IT'S A CELEBRATION BITCHES: L.A. REID SIGNS SHYNE TO DEF JAM

According to XXL Magazine, former Bad Boy artist, Shyne has inked a multi-million recording contract with Def Jam.
Reportedly, L.A. Reid, CEO and Chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group, actually flew down to Belize --where Shyne has been living since late 2009 when he was released from prison and deported, to finalize the deal in person.
Just four and a half months after being released from prison and subsequently deported, 7 News Belize reports that Shyne has inked a multi-million dollar recording contract, bringing his Gangland Records imprint to Def Jam.I’m truly happy for Shyne!
Antonio “L.A.” Reid, CEO and Chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group, flew down to Belize personally to seal the monumental deal.
“I have come here to stand by Shyne and to officially kick off our partnership with Island Def Jam Music Group and Gangland Records,” Reid told reporters present at the signing at Shyne’s penthouse in Belize. “I am here because great people are worthy of traveling many many miles for it and I come here to say that your country is great and I hope you guys know that this is a great man from your country who deserves this kid of respect and who deserves this kind of support.”
When asked whether of not he was expected a big comeback for Shyne, Reid said “I don’t expect it. I can promise it.”
Shyne mirrored Reid’s enthusiasm, “It is an honor and a pleasure, not just for me but for Belize,” he told the group that gathered for the occasion. “Chairman Reid is on the level of Berry Gordy, Clive Davis, the biggest music men in the history of music, and so to have a partnership with Gangland Records and Island/Def Jam is incredible for me.”

WHEN IT ALL FALLS DOWN: NAS OWES IRS $3 MILLION + TRYING TO WIN KELIS BACK

According to recent reports, Nas owes the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) $3,365,671.26. Nas previously owed the IRS $2,584,206.31, but the amount has now increased to nearly $800,000. *faints* Claud have mercy, that's a lot of money!
Couple this with the fact that last week Kelis’ high powered celebrity attorney, Laura Wasser aka "Mrs. Ante Up, Yap the Fool...Get Him...Hit Him," reportedly asked the court to hold Nas in contempt for failure to pay $200,000 in back child/spousal payments to Kelis, and I say our boy done slid down a razor blade and landed in an alcohol river.
TMZ's sources claim (likely Kelis’ former publicist/business partner Tracy H. Nguyen) say Nas is trying to win Kelis back as well as halt the divorce proceedings. Allegedly Nas has been sending Kelis several emails, but she supposedly isn't trying to hear all that jazz and still wishes to proceed with the divorce.
It is also rumored that Kelis has a new boyfriend :-(
Nas, I love you like cooked food, but you really need to get it TOGEVA STAT! Simply put, I fear two things: 1) God and 2) the IRS-- they ain't to be played with!
If the rumors are true that you’re trying to win Kelis back, you're going to have to come harder than sending her a gang of emails and fly to wherever she is and profess your undying love to her --even at the risk of playing yourself…cause K may unfortunately be over it.
