FANTASIA'S OVERDOSE TRIGGERED BY BEING NAMED THE MISTRESS IN DIVORCE

Posted by: Roxxanne Roxxanne

This past Monday a scandal erupted when season 3 American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino was named in a divorce complaint filed by Paula Cook, a North Carolina woman who alleges that Barrino is responsible for the destruction of her marriage.

Since last year, many gossip outlets had reported that Barrino was involved with a married man by the name of Antwaun Cook.

In the complaint, Mrs. Cook claims that Barrino and her husband Antwaun met at a T-Mobile store he managed near Barrino’s home in August 2009. The complaint goes onto allege that not long after Barrino met Cook she began flying him to Atlanta, Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Barbados to accompany the singer on trips. Mrs. Cook divorce complaint also alleges that her husband and Barrino videotaped “their illicit sexual activity.”

It is important to note that North Carolina is one of the few states where an adulterer, allegedly Fantasia, can be sued by a plaintiff-spouse, Mrs. Cook and the adulterer can be required to pay the plainitff alimony.

The situation intensified on Monday night when it was reported that Barrino had accidentally overdosed. The singer’s manager, Brian Dickens called 911 on Monday evening to report that Fantasia had swallowed a bottle of aspirin. Fantasia was rushed to Mercy South Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, N.C., were she was treated.

Dickens released a statement to the press where he said among other things, that Barrino is in stable condition.

Check out the statement and audio of the 911 call after the break!
Fantasia has always been an open book. Honesty, self-respect, and personal responsibility are values she wears proudly.

Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr. Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere.

He even took her there. One of Mr. Cook’s most redeeming qualities was his complete devotion to his children. Fantasia fell in love with Mr. Cook and believed that he loved her.

Fantasia and Mr. Cook dated on and off for about eleven months. The pressure of the constant media attention was hard on their relationship. Fantasia gave inconsistent interviews about the status of her relationship with Mr. Cook because sometimes they were on and sometimes they were off.

When they were on, they spent most of their time together when she was not traveling with work.
Fantasia read Mrs. Cook’s Complaint against Mr. Cook for the first time yesterday. She knows some of the allegations in Mrs. Cook's complaint are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know.

Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.

Yesterday, she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention. Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid.

Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon. Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured.

Fantasia will be stronger, smarter, and better for it. Her work has always inspired her and served as a source of strength. Her new album, “Back To Me,” will be released on August 24th.

The lyrics to “I’m Here” say it best:

“I Believe I Have Inside Of Me
Everything That I Need To Live A Bountiful Life
With All The Love Inside Of Me
I’ll Stand As Tall As The Tallest Tree
And I’m Thankful For Each Day That I’m Given
Both The Easy And The Hard Ones I’m Livin’
But Most Of All
Yes, I’m Thankful For Lovin’ Who I Really Am”
Fantasia sends her praise to God and her eternal gratitude to her fans, friends, and family.
God is good.

At the risk of coming off bias (I am), I really feel for Fantasia (or Fannie Mae as I like to call her)! I know all the humiliation and drama surrounding this scandal was likely weighing heavy on her heart, but it’s no reason to try and take your own life (if that was what she was trying to do).

You have come too far and accomplished too much to let this situation defeat you.

Fantasia think of how your daughter Zion and your love ones would feel if you had succumbed to your overdose.

Is some T-Mobile hocking lame really worth it Fannie Mae?

I also feel for Mrs. Cook and her sons for all the embarrassment and stress the affair has caused them.

I think that dude Antwaun seems BEYOND shady, but it takes two to tango. However, no one is perfect only God can judge me; he who is without sin cast the first stone; people make mistakes; everything happens for a reason; it ain't my fault...did I do that, etc...!

My prayers sincerely go out to Fantasia that she’ll have a speedy recovery and also that Mrs. Cook doesn’t try and stick Fannie Mae for her papers.
