According to Reuters, a federal appeals court in Florida on Friday (7/16) denied actor Wesley Snipes' appeal stemming from a 2008 tax evasion conviction. The actor will now have to complete his 3 year sentence.

In 2008, Snipes was convicted of tax evasion when the court found the actor guilty of not paying his taxes from 1999-2001. The court found Snipes failure to pay his taxes particularly troubling since it was established that the actor made roughly $38 million during that same time frame.

In a prepared statement read by Snipes addressed to the court he said, "I am very sorry for my mistakes and errors." "This will never happen again." The actor described himself as an "idealist, naive, passionate, truth-seeking, spiritual-seeking artist." Snipes said he epitomized the expression "mo' money, mo' problems (please leave my man Biggie out of your mess, comprende?)."

Snipes' attorney, Linda Moreno tried to persuade the court against upholding the actor's 3-year jail conviction. She argued that the sentence was inappropriate since the actor allegedly owed $400,000 in back taxes and other celebrities who also failed to file taxes had not been sentence to serve jail time.

Moreno pointed out that singer Marc Anthony and former District of Columbia Mayor, Marion Barry had avoided jail time despite failing to file tax returns. Moreover, country singer Willie Nelson owed roughly $17 million in back taxes and was not sentence to serve jail time.

Moreno also noted that Snipes had since hired reputable tax professionals to assist him. The court even received letters of references from Snipes' good friends, actors Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson, but none of that helped to change the court's ruling.

I already know what you're going to say,  "Nino don't trust a motherphucker!" But when will people learn NOT to phuck with the IRS. Them motherphuckers have proved time and time again that they are not to be messed with and if by chance you do, you'll be spanked...HARD!

  1. The Fed to Wesley : Money talks, and bullshit runs a marathon. So, see ya and I wouldn't want to be ya.

Nino Brown: I'm not guilty. *You're* the one that's guilty. The lawmakers, the politicians, the Columbian drug lords, all you who lobby against making drugs legal. Just like you did with alcohol during the prohibition. You're the one who's guilty. I mean, c'mon, let's kick the ballistics here: Ain't no Uzi's made in Harlem. Not one of us in here owns a poppy field. This thing is bigger than Nino Brown. This is big business. This is the American way.
