VH1 HIP HOP HONORS: DEF JAM, WHY WON'T YOU LET LL COOL J BE GREAT?

Posted by: Roxxanne Roxxanne

This year’s VH1 Hip-Hop Honors show will celebrate Def Jam’s 25th anniversary.

Actor Tracy Morgan will be hosting the ceremony for the third consecutive time. The ceremony will focus on the label’s influential founders Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin.

The show will also highlight the influential people behind Def-Jam’s legacy such as: Lyor Cohen (aka lil sexy…he had me at “get the phuck out my office.” Watch out Tory Burch…like S ‘N P said “I’ll take your man!!!), Kevin Liles (B-more’s finest), Julie Greenwald, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, and Jay-Z.

The tentative performance list includes: Eminem, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Ludacris, DMX, Mary J. Blige, Redman, The Roots, Method Man, ONYX, Public Enemy, Warren G, Kid Rock, Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon, Brett Ratner, Trey Songz, Ja Rule, Gym Class Heroes (Yes! Travis baby I got my eye on you boo!), and Scarface (Facemob!).

Ok, I JUST KNOW this has to be a tentative performance roster…because I don’t see near mention of LL Cool J!

STOP THE TRACK, LET ME STATE FACT: there would be NO Def Jam without LL Cool J!

He was Def Jam's flagship artist and if not for him…

The show is scheduled to air on October 13 at 9 p.m. ET on VH1.

  1. You are absolutely right Roxanne, for the past couple of years they have really lowered LL. Overall they do not give him the respect that he deserves. Besides the face enhancements nothings changed.

P.S. If you read this LL, take no offense to the face comments its just obvious you have done something..

  2. Ditto! Maybe that's why he didn't show up for the H.H.H. that took place this past Wednesday. Come to think of it a lot of big name former and current Def Jam artist didn't show (Nas, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye, Mariah ect...).
